The Employee Assistance Program:

The Employee Assistance Program, (EAP) is a joint effort by Air Canada and its unions to provide assistance to its employees. This program is available to all Air Canada employees and their families for assistance in resolving personal difficulties on a strictly voluntary basis through the services of professionals.

Each station has representatives to direct you to the professional best suited to you, but you don’t necessarily have to use the rep from your station. Feel free to use the assistance of any of the reps in any of the stations. LL 1763 covers a vast area and therefore all the EAP reps in Atlantic Canada are outlined here in this page by name and station.

LL1763 and its representatives encourage the membership to seek help through a confidential assistance program such as the EAP, should you require the services of such a program.

Principles of the EAP:

  • Not intended to interfere with or in the private lives of employees.
  • Employee is responsible for own job performance.
  • Employee is responsible for own personal problems.
  • Getting early help for the troubled employee.
  • Use of EAP program does not threaten job security or promotional opportunities.
  • Does not engage in union or company politics – remains neutral & non-discriminatory.

The EAP program will:

  • Allow the employee to be heard through open, confidential dialogue.
  • To inform the employee of different process and procedures for resolution.
  • To help employees cope with the many problems and stresses we face everyday.
  • To refer the employee to the best qualified professional required depending on the situation.
